Selby Quinn is a mônîyâskwew (White woman) who grew up on Treaty 6 territory in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Selby had the opportunity to work with Elder Dr. Leona Makokis and Dr. Ralph Bodor during her BSW allowing her to develop a practice philosophy that centers on disrupting Eurocentric knowledge and privilege in the social services sector while drawing on Indigenous teachings and ways of knowing. Selby has over 10 years of experience in the social services sector and currently resides on Treaty 7 territory in Calgary, Alberta. Selby continues to learn, grow, and journey alongside Indigenous colleagues and friends.
