miyo ohpikinâwasowin is a project that occurred with Alberta’s North Central Children’s Services, IRM Research and Evaluation Inc., and University nuhelot’įne thaiyots’į nistameyimâkanak Blue Quills.
The Indigenous Program Indicators were used by the Children’s Services region to assess and support staff learning and development. Rather than focusing on implementation with agency service-users, the miyo ohpikinâwasowin Indicators were developed to explore staff’s understanding of Indigenous teachings, protocol, and ceremonies. Caseworkers were asked to reflect on their understanding of Indigenous teachings and their level of confidence in applying these teachings in their practice.
